Sources for Identifying Funding

Please use the tools below to help identify prospective foundation supporters for research and programs. You may also reach out to the Foundation and Corporate Relations team to request help on identifying opportunities.

To determine the particular status of a foundation vis-à-vis the University, please consult the Restricted Organizations list. Refer to the Foundation Limited Opportunities page to learn about approaching funders that stipulate a restricted number and frequency of submissions from the University.

Foundation Directory Online (FDO)

Access the University’s enterprise-level subscription to Foundation Directory Online (FDO). FDO contains information on more than 140,000 grantmakers and includes grantmaker profiles. FDO allows users to build a pipeline of prospects using information on foundation interests and grantmaking, to explore funding trends by topic and/or geographic location, to explore networks of funders and recipients, to view grantmaker profiles with grantmaking details tailored to search criteria, and to view foundation contacts and company information.

Pivot

Pivot from ProQuest is a database that allows users to identify research funding opportunities and collaborators. The database is updated daily and provides information on funding opportunities from federal, non-federal, foundation, corporate, and other private sponsors. To access Pivot without signing in, users must be connected to the UChicago network. If you claim your profile using your University email address, the system can suggest funding opportunities and will allow you to set up recurring searches.

InfoReady Review

InfoReady Review is the University of Chicago’s new funding portal. It lists internal funding opportunities as well as federal and foundation funding opportunities including those that are limited submission. Opportunities are added on an ongoing basis.
